Please join APAS for our very first "Dog (and Cat) Days of Summer Pet Food Drive." Working with our local food pantry, APAS will hold a pet food drive to collect food for families in need, and the Socorro Storehouse will distribute it. Increases in the cost of everything from food to gas have pushed many families across the country to turn to pantries for needed food. Food pantries have also noticed an increase in requests for pet food as owners struggle to make ends meet and hang onto their pets. While the Socorro Storehouse focuses on the human aspect of food donations, APAS saw the need for pet food as an opportunity for our group to get involved and help out.

So help us on Saturday, August 23 by bringing an unopened bag of cat or dog food to Smith's to donate to the event. Since this event is intended to feed the hungry, we are only accepting donations of food, no toys or treats please. Alternatively, you may drop off a donation at Kitty Pokorny's place of work (New Mexico Bureau of Geology, Publication Sales Office on New Mexico Tech campus off of Olive Lane) during the week of August 25-29 during office hours.

Please join us for the monthly APAS meeting. Normally, we meet the second Tuesday of each month in the Tripp Room of the Skeen Library on New Mexico Tech campus. However, since the college is currently between semesters, we will meet this month on the third Tuesday. Everything should be back to normal after June. We would love to meet some new people and hear your ideas.
