The brick portale is the social area. Whether watching the Hummingbirds at the feeders or relaxing in the breeze, it's the place to be.

Four species of hummingbirds visit the Eaton House between April and September. Black Chins are the first to arrive followed by Rufous in July. Caliopes join in late July and early August. Broadtails, common at higher elevations, are occaisional visitors here. Early August is the peak.

There have been as many as a thousand Hummingbirds a day during peak migration. The owners no longer encourage that many birds as they required as much as 5 gallons of Hummingbird food a day.

Primroses border the portale.
