The much-feared Crystal Rapid. But we had especially low water - a weekend flow of maybe 9000cfs and the rapid's fangs were definitely pulled. The big hole to the left of Joe normally is huge and the trick is to try to avoid it. But when we were there it did not look all that threatening. Kerry was swept into it and got surfed, but not flipped. Joe went into it many times to surf or just see what it would do, as shown in the following photos.
