- Microsoft's Web browser, Internet Explorer, comes standard with most versions of Microsoft Windows and is the most widely used browser on the Web. The current version is Windows Internet Explorer 7, which includes an overhauled user experience and enhanced online security over the previous version.

- Netscape Navigator was one of the first popular browsers and many people still swear by it. Navigator 9 is the current version, but Netscape 7.2 was the last version to include email. Current and archived versions are available. Netscape Communicator was a version of Navigator that, in addition to browsing web pages, includes tools for email and newsgroups.

- Opera is available for a large variety of platforms and claims to be the "Fastest browser on Earth". It is also small and incorporates many interesting features like the ability to look the way you want it. This browser used to be shareware, requiring you to watch advertising banners in the free version, but the new version 8.5 is now free and no longer uses banner ads.

- Mozilla Thunderbird is the email compliment to Firefox. Thunderbird includes junk mail filtering and extensions, and it can import your mail and addresses from Outlook, Outlook Express, and Netscape. Thunderbird also includes phishing protection (warning about email-based scams), new mail notification, and integration with GMail and .Mac mail.
